More than $100,000 in marijuana plants and several guns were confiscated Monday from a home that sits just half a mile from Westwood Middle School.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to 41805 Adelbert St. about 3:40 p.m. after a woman said her daughter’s boyfriend fired a gun inside the home where her daughter and grandchildren were staying.
Deputies found the man, James Wells IV, sitting with his girlfriend in a van outside the home and he was taken into custody without incident.
A Rossi .357 revolver was found in the front seat with one spent round in the cylinder, as well as two small sandwich bags containing marijuana.
As deputies searched the home for more children, they were “overcome with the smell of marijuana” coming from a bedroom, said sheriff’s Sgt. Randal Koubeck.
Two medium-sized plastic containers filled with marijuana were located in a bathtub and after members of the Lorain County Drug Task Force were called in, a growing operation was discovered in the basement that included more than 100 marijuana plants, as well as nine weapons, other drugs and drug paraphernalia. → keep toking
