David Kahn: Michael Beasley 'Smoked Too Much Marijuana'
Huffington Post

Michael Beasley, who was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves on July 9, has gained the trust of Minnesota team president David Kahn. Kahn said on Thursday in an interview on 1500 ESPN Twin Cities that Beasley "smoked too much marijuana" in Miami. Kahn was fined $50,000 by the NBA for his comments.

According to Kahn, Beasley is maturing and is trying to get rid of his bad habits from his past.

"I told him that I would trust him as long as that was the case," Kahn said. "He has developed a really good support system around him this past season in Miami. He's hired people to help him grow up."

Minnesota traded two future second-round picks for Beasley. In 2008, he was fined $50,000 by the NBA for an incident involving marijuana and players Mario Chalmers and Darrell Arthur.

Beasley was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2008 NBA draft. The 6-10 forward averaged 14.3 points and 5.9 rebounds during his tenure in Miami.
