foxnews.com

EARLY, Texas -- A message between old friends who hadn't been in touch for a while led to a drug arrest after the recipient of the "So do you smoke weed?" text turned out to be a police officer.

Amanda Williams is a reserve officer with the Early Police Department.

The Brownwood Bulletin reported Friday that Williams said she received the text message Tuesday asking about getting together to smoke some marijuana that the man had.

Williams says she had not spoken to the man in some time and he did not know that she's a law officer.

Williams let police know that she agreed to meet the man at a park.

Early police and Texas troopers were on hand to detain the San Angelo man, who faces a marijuana possession charge.

Early is 120 miles southwest of Fort Worth.

Police Make Huge Pot Bust In Shelbyville
wlky.com

Police in Shelbyville said they have found one of the largest indoor marijuana growing operations in their history.

Investigators said they took more than 300 pot plants from a home on Joyes Station Road Wednesday.

Police arrested 34-year-old Bryan Coombs and 42-year-old Julie Ann Coombs, who now face several drug charges.

Officers said the pair had an elaborate growing operation in their basement.

"It was set up with several rooms, with plastic blocking off the rooms," said Maj. Danny Goodwin of Shelbyville Police. "They had lights, grow lights, with an air-conditioning system and water systems and carbon dioxide emitters to make the plants grow faster. They had it set up from seedlings, where they were starting the plants, through full-grown, mature plants, all the way to the end result, where they were drying the plants and cultivating the buds."

Police also seized hallucinogenic mushrooms, several thousand rounds of ammunition and nearly 20 weapons, including assault weapons, from the home.
